Welcome to this next edition of the Alpha Recruitment Newsletter.

Green shoots, or a dead cat bounce? There is no doubt that right now we seem to be enjoying a little more buoyancy in the recruitment market. Here at Alpha we have been busier than for some months in finding quality candidates for our clients, and anecdotally several other recruiters are finding the same. Some sectors of our economy are doing very well. In a recent review of the construction market for instance it appears that the total value of new commercial consents has risen again this year to record heights - $570million in April and $479million in May according a recent NZ Herald article.

Our contract desk is also getting busier with change consultants, project engineers and business analysts back in demand. On the the other hand, the seasonal rush for good accounting staff seems to have cooled a little, perhaps because many companies have now finished getting their accounts for the last financial year sorted. We are very happy to announce that from time to time in our newsletter we will feature relevant articles from The NZ Week one of the more informed online news sites. We know that wage growth has been very slow this year, in fact for many people this has been a year of negative growth (how PC is that?) in their take home pay. Others have been made redundant and are looking at roles that they are more than qualified for. We understand that this puts households under stress even with the stimulus of recent tax reductions. Master Degreed in Infrastructure, Planning and Management, with a background in Quality Sustainable Wastewater Management. Has also worked in the Geotech and Roading engineering areas, but his passion is in the WasteWater arena.

Electronic Hardware Design Engineer

MSc – Electronic Engineer from the UK relocating September 2009, with NZ Residency. Hamish is skilled in Mico Electronic and PCB Designs, and comes with an all round ability to work from concept to completion including research, testing, R&D work and is skilled in renewable energy market solar, biotech and hydro.

Mechanical Engineer - Contractor
