The Role
This is a unique opportunity to work in Auckland’s largest Public Hospital, providing leadership and support to a clinical coding team, whilst having a supportive management team to work with.
Your key accountabilities will include:
- Manage, coordinate and undertake a continuous audit program for clinical coders across Auckland
- Provide feedback/education to the clinical coding service within the Organisation
- Have input into the design, development and implementation of training and education programs for experienced and trainee coders
- Assist in the provision of an efficient and effective clinical coding service within the Organisation
- Promote the role of the Clinical Coding Department in a positive manner, with both internal and external stakeholders
- Ensure coded information is provided in clinical records to the highest data quality standard
- Provide advice, exchange information, give presentations, negotiate and consult on a wide range of coding issues. You will also be required to produce reports and interrogate coded data

The ideal candidate will demonstrate the following:

- Possess high ethical and professional standards and have the ability to lead by example
The ideal candidate will ideally have the following Qualifications and Essential Experience
- 5 years clinical coding experience – preferably in a tertiary hospital, using ICD-10-AM
- A thorough understanding of the NZ Coding Standards
- Demonstrated experience in conducting quality improvement activities and training in relation to ICD-10-AM
- Detailed knowledge of clinical coding systems, procedures and documentation requirements
- Supervisory and/ or mentoring experience
- Strong understanding of casemix-based funding
- Intermediate computer skills – MS Office suite
- Preferably you will hold Health Information Management and Clinical Coding Audit qualifications
- Knowledge of the NZ Health Sector is desired
