Communications Advisor – Public Sector – Hourly Rate Contract until February 2022 – Job #LW59470

Our client is looking for a strong Communications Advisor to work on a dynamic and diverse change programme. The main purpose of the role is to to develop an overall communications approach. This includes the strategic messaging (vision, purpose, outcomes, benefits) as well as the detailed information such as process change, operating model clarity and system training.

As an experienced Communications Advisor, you'll have a proven track record in creating compelling content and using different channels to reach a range of audiences.  As a self-starter, you'll be deadline driven and able to confidently work on multiple projects with a diverse range of people.

Your main responsibilities:

  • Providing advice to the programme, executives and managers on issues and strategies
  • Implementation of the communication plan and strategy in collaboration with the programme team and other key stakeholders
  • Production of informational material both hard copy and online, are fit for purpose
  • Ensure campaigns, sponsorships, executive speeches, presentations, seminars, exhibitions, displays and publications are packaged and delivered to high quality standards
  • Taking technical information and creating communications that are accessible and useful to a range of audiences

Your experience:

  • A minimum of 2 years' experience in developing and delivering internal and external communications strategies preferably in New Zealand government
  • The ability to build good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Experience in working with media, including responding to enquiries
  • A track record in producing video and social media content
  • Strong relationship and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Ability to participate confidently and competently in a kaupapa Māori (desirable)
  • Understanding of the Principals of the Treaty (desirable)
  • Experience working with Māori, Pacific, and Ethnic communities (desirable)

The initial engagement would be until February 2022, starting ASAP. Ideally, we are looking for someone full time at Senior Advisor level.
