We are looking for Project / Programme Managers with extensive public sector experience giving shape and oversight to policy change programme(s) and contributing strategic ‘thought leadership’ through overseeing the development of policy advice, options and recommendations to Ministers and Cabinet. 

Key areas of responsibility:

• Oversee the development and maintenance of a work programme to achieve government objectives.
• Oversee a programme of work to implement changes necessitated by amendments to legislation and/or policy.
• Oversee the development of a clear and tangible set of measurable objectives and deliverables by which progress can be measured.
• Maintain a line of sight across all workstreams, identify and manage/mitigate risks to the programme.
• Provide strategic and intellectual leadership for the work programme.
• Provide a sounding board, insight, judgement and/or advice where appropriate for the team and wider organisation.
• Analyse, develop and reinforce core linkages, relationships and synergies between functions both within and outside the programme.
• Ensure working relationships and interfaces between the team, the wider organisation and external policy and strategy are maintained, and clear lines of communication and potential alignment are promoted.
• Seeking opportunities to collaborate on design and implementation with iwi/Māori.
• Leading external engagement and relationship management including operating at a senior level within central government, seeking opportunities to work with local government and with iwi/Māori to collaboratively design and implement practical approaches.
