Providing a safe and natural environment with lots of fresh air, the newly purchased Evergreen Early Childhood Education Centre (previously Newstead Old MacDonalds Rural Early Learning and Care Centre) promote child led play by running around outside, enjoying the rain and sunshine with the freedom for children to learn, flourish and succeed. Located in the beautiful farmland of Newstead, children are involved in the care and handling of animals, growing vegetables and fruit, and cooking and eating the produce they grow. About the role                                  

Evergreen Early Childhood Education Centre is currently seeking a permanent full time Centre Manager who is passionate about delivering amazing learning outcomes for our Tamariki and Kaiako. With a love for systems you will be responsible for the smooth running of the centre day-to-day and providing strong leadership for a passionate team of educators. With great communication, you’ll foster positive relationships with Tamariki, Whanau and Kaiako, whilst delivering high-quality educational programs.

Focus areas will be:

  • Provide a safe and supportive environment, ensuring a high standard of care and education
  • Achieve and maintain a quality curriculum program following the New Zealand Early Childhood Curriculum (Te Whāriki)
  • Maintain compliance with all licensing criteria and health and safety standards
  • Lead and collaborate with the team, to plan and execute enriching activities and events
  • Implementing policies and procedures as per operating guidelines

About you

With a strong background in early childhood education and talent for cultivating team culture with strong leadership, you have a passion for creating a positive and inclusive environment for all Tamariki and Kaiako. You can lead change and provide mentorship with integrity and respect, and your enthusiasm and compassion allow you to upload the philosophy of the centre to drive a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.

Additionally, you will have:

  • Relevant experience in an ECE centre
  • Bachelor Degree in Education or Diploma in Teaching Level 7 (ECE or Primary)
  • Current registration with NZ Teaching Council
  • Good knowledge of the current ECE Regulations, Te Whariki and hold compliance in a high regard
  • The ability to successfully pass a safety check in accordance with the standards required under the Children’s Act 2014 (which includes a Police Vet Check)
  • Strong knowledge and commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and implications
  • Current Full NZ Driving License
  • Successful applications will have the legal right to work in New Zealand
