Mental Health Counsellor
We are seeking a fully registered Mental Health Counsellor to join a well-established primary mental health service. This is a rewarding opportunity to deliver short-term, evidence-based support to individuals within a collaborative, community-focused setting.
About the Role
- Provide short-term counselling (up to 6 sessions per client, including assessment and discharge)
- Conduct comprehensive assessments and develop individualised treatment plans
- Deliver evidence-based therapies such as CBT and person-centred approaches
- Support clients with mental health concerns including anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, and stress
- Undertake risk assessments and provide crisis intervention where required
- Work closely with GPs and a multidisciplinary team to ensure coordinated care
- Travel across sites may be required depending on client needs
About You
- Relevant qualification in counselling, psychotherapy, or psychology
- Full registration required with DAPAANZ, SWRB, NZAC, or equivalent
- Experience providing individual and/or group counselling in a mental health setting
- Strong skills in risk assessment, crisis intervention, and safety planning
- Excellent communication, organisation, and clinical documentation skills
- Ability to work both independently and within a multidisciplinary team
