Do you want to use your policy expertise to make a meaningful difference for New Zealand's diverse communities?

We are currently partnering with two public sector agencies to recruit Senior Policy Analysts. We have permanent and 12-month fixed term roles available. These positions offer unique opportunities to lead complex policy development, influence the wider public sector, and ensure that the voices and aspirations of diverse community groups are woven into the fabric of government decision-making.

Help shape an inclusive Aotearoa where all individuals and their whānau thrive. In these roles, you will work across government to support the implementation of national accessibility and equity strategies, ensuring that cross-agency policy settings reflect a rights-based approach. You will lead collaborative co-design processes with community sectors and advocate for structural change across the wider state services system.

Sector experience in education, housing, or justice policy is a distinct advantage here, but not essential.

To be successful in either of these positions, you will be a seasoned policy professional who brings:

  • Proven Policy Expertise: Strong practical experience delivering high-quality, evidence-based policy analysis and advice through complex machinery of government and ministerial processes.
  • Systems Fluency: The ability to navigate ambiguity, think laterally, identify organisational risks, and work at pace across complex systems.
  • Interpersonal Savvy: Exceptional relationship-building skills with the ability to influence cross-agency stakeholders and partner authentically with community leaders and non-government organisations.
  • Leadership & Coaching: Confidence in peer-reviewing work, providing quality assurance, and coaching or mentoring less experienced team members to lift overall capability.
  • Cultural & Treaty Commitment: A deep commitment to equity, te ao Māori, and giving effect to Te Tiriti o Waitangi in a public service context.
  • A strong understanding of cross-cultural nuances, community engagement practices, and driving social inclusion for diverse multi-cultural communities is essential.
