Flexibility to be either full time or .8 (32 hpw)

Play a key leadership role within an organisation that helps shape cricket across the upper North Island.

At Northern Districts Cricket, cricket is more than a game - it’s about community, opportunity, connection, and creating experiences that last a lifetime. From grassroots cricket through to elite performance, Northern Districts Cricket supports players, clubs, schools, volunteers, fans, and communities across one of New Zealand’s largest sporting regions.

They are looking for a commercially minded and practical Finance & Operations Manager to join their team in Hamilton and help drive organisational performance and operational effectiveness across one of New Zealand’s leading regional sporting organisations.

This is a unique opportunity to combine your finance and operational expertise within a purpose-driven organisation making a significant impact across the region.

About the role

Leading a small team and reporting to the CEO, you’ll oversee the finance and operational functions of the organisation while supporting organisational performance and operational effectiveness across Northern Districts Cricket.

You’ll oversee financial management, reporting, budgeting, compliance, operational systems, facilities coordination, and business support functions, while helping drive continuous improvement across the organisation.

This role offers broad exposure across both operational and strategic aspects of the organisation. No two days are the same - one day you could be presenting financial insights to the Board, the next partnering with the leadership team on operational priorities, or driving improvements across systems and organisational processes.

What you’ll bring

We’re looking for someone who can combine strong commercial and financial capability with operational leadership, relationship management and a practical, hands-on approach.

You’ll ideally bring:

  • Strong finance and commercial management experience
  • Proven budgeting, forecasting, and reporting capability
  • Experience managing audits, compliance, and financial controls
  • The ability to lead operational improvement, drive accountability and support organisational performance
  • Outstanding relationship-building and communication skills
  • A collaborative, practical and solutions-focused approach, with a focus on continuous improvement
  • The ability to juggle multiple priorities in a dynamic sporting environment

A CA qualification (or equivalent experience) would be highly regarded, along with experience in sport, community, or not-for-profit organisations, however we are open to applications outside of these criteria.

Why join Northern Districts Cricket?

This is more than a finance role - it’s an opportunity to contribute to an organisation that makes a positive impact across communities throughout the region.

At Northern Districts Cricket, you’ll enjoy:

  • A collaborative and values-driven team environment
  • A broad and influential role within a well-known regional organisation
  • The opportunity to work closely with the CEO, Board and leadership team
  • Supporting community cricket across the region while also contributing to elite performance pathways
  • Flexibility to work either full time or .8 (32 hours per week)

If you’re looking for a role where your work has visible impact - both inside the organisation and across the wider community - we’d love to hear from you.
