Lead with Purpose. Lead with Values. Create Communities Without Barriers.

Progress to Health is a respected community-based organisation supporting people across Waikato, Taranaki and Taupō to live full and meaningful lives. Guided by their vision of Communities Without Barriers, they work alongside people experiencing mental health and disability challenges, helping them achieve their goals, strengthen wellbeing, and connect with their communities.

Progress to Health is now seeking an exceptional Chief Executive Officer to lead their next chapter.  This is more than a leadership role. It is an opportunity to shape the future of an organisation where values are not words on a wall - they are the foundation of every decision, every relationship, and every outcome they strive to achieve.

Reporting to the Board, the Chief Executive will provide strategic and operational leadership across the organisation, ensuring Progress to Health continues to deliver high-quality, sustainable services while remaining true to its strategy, mission, purpose and commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi.

You will lead a dedicated and passionate team, strengthen organisational capability, foster innovation, and build trusted relationships with funders, iwi, government agencies, community partners and stakeholders.  Most importantly, you will be a leader who inspires others through authentic, values-based leadership.

As Chief Executive, you will embody the Progress to Health values every day, further developing a culture where people feel empowered, connected and supported to do their best work.

What You'll Be Responsible For

  • Leading the development and delivery of the existing organisational strategy
  • Advising the Board on new strategic initiatives, particularly at strategy review time
  • Driving sustainable organisational performance and growth
  • Ensuring financial stewardship and long-term sustainability
  • Strengthening leadership capability across the organisation
  • Developing strategic partnerships and stakeholder relationships
  • Championing innovation and continuous improvement
  • Upholding Progress to Health's commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and equitable outcomes
  • Providing trusted advice and effective reporting to the Board

The successful applicant will be an experienced executive leader who understands that great leadership starts with purpose, authenticity and service to others.

You will demonstrate:

  • Significant senior executive leadership experience within health, disability, mental health, social services, or related community sectors
  • A proven ability to lead through values while delivering strong organisational and people focussed outcomes
  • Experience building engaged, inclusive and high-performing cultures
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen
  • Experience working closely with Boards and governance groups
  • Exceptional relationship-building and stakeholder engagement skills
  • A demonstrated commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi, with evidence of cultural capability and ongoing growth to support equitable outcomes for Māori and diverse communities
  • The resilience, judgement and adaptability required to lead within a complex and evolving environment
  • An open and honest communication style and proven ability to have a trust-based relationship experience with Boards

Most importantly, you will be recognised as a leader who earns trust, develops others, and creates positive impact through collaboration and shared purpose.

Why Join Progress to Health?

This is an opportunity to lead an organisation that genuinely changes lives.  You will join a purpose-driven organisation with a strong reputation, dedicated people, and a clear commitment to supporting individuals, whānau and communities to thrive.

If you are motivated by making a meaningful difference, believe in the power of values-based leadership, and have the vision to lead a progressive organisation into its next phase of growth and impact, we would love to hear from you.
