Our client has an hourly rate contract opportunity for a Learning & Development Advisor, to help deliver an operational change and training focused project for 4 months from March until the end of June 2024. This role will suit someone with intermediate level experience as an L&D Advisor, Senior Advisor or similar. It will be a busy role where the individual will have the opportunity to own a project and assume responsibility for design, build and delivery. Learning and development experience working on operational change projects with frontline staff or similar will be key along with the ability to work across a business and engage effectively with a range of stakeholders.  

Responsibilities will include:

  • Work with the current L&D Advisor to assist the design and development and implementation of learning solutions (including key systems learning) that both deliver to stakeholders’ needs and meet our expectations of high-quality learning design. This includes all parts of the learning development process e.g., planning, needs analysis, storyboarding, design, development, testing, communicating, deployment, reporting, and evaluation.
  • Take responsibility for the design, build and implementation of a specific operational change and training project within tight timeframes
  • Consider the needs of learners and ‘organisational reality’ in an operational context when designing learning solutions.
  • Facilitating and leading workshops, deliver training using a range of teaching and facilitation techniques to operational teams.
  • Recommend improvements to the training programme in response to feedback and assessment.
  • Effectively manage relationships across the business, within the project team and with various stakeholders including the operational teams that form the project audience

Suitable candidates will possess the following skills/attributes:

  • Strong learning and development (L&D) experience
  • Experience working on operational change and training projects with frontline staff
  • Other areas of experience that might be useful would be change management and project management or project coordination along with backgrounds in organisational development and similar
  • Ideally has public sector experience either in central or local government. Private sector experience will also be considered
  • Someone who is flexible and understands front line operational work and the ability to engage with operational staff is desired
  • Good interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills to allow the individual to work with a variety of stakeholders
  • The ability to manage changing priorities and work across the business with different business groups is essential
