Kapiti Coast District Council is a local government council that is tasked with leading and promoting the social, economic, environmental, and cultural wellbeing of the Kapiti Coast. The council is constantly looking to enhance the thriving environment of Kapiti, strengthen the economy and the communities who they serve.

The Strategy and Growth Group role is to support the Council’s strategic initiatives, helping to develop new ideas and work programs.

They are now looking to recruit a Principal Advisor to continue the growth and development of the team. The focus of this role will be to oversee the development and implementation of their Virtual Recovery Programme Office and Recovery Plan. Along with this you will also be responsible for several key work streams and contributing more broadly to strategy and policy work. Other key elements include:

• Providing the Group Manager and Chief Advisor with high quality advice on issues impacting the council relevant to recovery, growth and improving Kapiti community outcomes.
• Working with senior leadership across the organization to identify and progress recovery related initiatives along with developing the work programs to support these.
• Maintaining and developing key working relationships with stakeholders both within and outside the organization
• Assist in the development of the team and new staff.

 

To be effective in this role you will need to have the following profile:

• Be able to demonstrate strong problem solving and analytical ability and experience defining problems and providing the necessary resolutions to them.
• Ability to think long term and be able to take a broad regional perspective in your thinking.
• Experience of being able to work effectively with and influence a wide range of people both within and outside the organization.
• Proven policy experience that you could demonstrate would assist the council in supporting a thriving community.
