About the role:

 

Our client is a central government agency looking for an experienced senior or principal policy advisor with a legal background or expertise and strong strategic policy experience.

 

The role will be taking the lead on a high-profile piece of work that requires some early-stage policy definition before moving onto the engagement phase.

 

This is an hourly rate contract opportunity starting ASAP until the end of June 2025. The role will be Wellington based and ideally full time but there might be some flexibility for the right candidate.

 

Key skills and experience required:

 

•                     Strategic policy capability

•                     Legal background is essential ideally with knowledge of contract and commercial law

•                     Experience developing policy frameworks on complex issues and the ability take policy from early problem definition through to engagement phase

•                     Strong machinery of government experience

•                     Strong policy experience including legislative with experience of taking a bill through the house would be ideal

•                     Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills
