We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Policy Advisor with strategic policy experience who is passionate about social and climate change issues. This role, with a large central government agency, sits in a Strategy & Evaluation team, that is in the early stages of a Climate Change Programme. The role will be working closely with a Principal / Lead Advisor as part of a small but growing team. This Programme is in response to the recent Climate Emergency declaration, committing to urgent action on reducing carbon emissions. It is a cross agency initiative which is scaling up and has a lot of interest from the Minister. The Senior Policy Advisor will largely focus on developing the programme strategy, and will take a hands on approach with getting the initial policy and planning in place to get the work programme up and running.
Ideally looking for someone with the following:
- Experienced Senior Policy Advisor
- Strategic ‘big P’ policy experience
- Programme strategy development and planning
- Strong core policy skills set and the ability to be hands on with a lot of the work
- Excellent writing skills – ability across ministerial servicing, briefings to the Minister, cabinet papers etc.
- Ability to translate technical information into plain English
- Cross Agency project / programme experience
- Ability to be adaptable and work in a fast-moving environment
