Key areas of experience required:

• A strong understanding of policy quality frameworks and the ability to produce top-tier advice for Ministers.
• Proven ability to navigate complex, cross-agency environments and maintain strong internal and external partnerships.
• Exceptional writing skills and the ability to boil down complex issues for senior leadership.
• A desire to coach and mentor junior staff and lead significant work streams independently.
• Ability to work under pressure across agencies and Crown partners
• Experience working on fast-paced, significant work.
• Awareness of, and sensitivity to, the cultural values and particular needs of Māori. An understanding of the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi, and their implications for the work of policy development is essential.
• Machinery of government.
