Technical Writer – Systems Transition Project

A central government agency is seeking an experienced Technical Writer to support a major systems and process transition project within its innovation and business support functions.
This role sits within a significant integration programme following the transition of a national innovation-focused Crown entity into a large public sector ministry. The focus is on reviewing, standardising, and migrating core operational process documentation into a new enterprise process management platform.
About the Role
As part of this transition, all existing process documentation, currently housed in a legacy process mapping tool, must be reviewed, validated with stakeholders, recreated where required, and migrated into Promapp.
This role requires someone who combines:

The communication and investigative strengths of a Business Analyst

The precision and structure of a Technical Writer / Documentation Specialist
You will ensure processes are accurately captured, clearly documented, aligned to ISO9001 standards, and fit for long-term governance within the new system. Once established, you will also provide guidance to business users on maintaining and managing process documentation effectively.
Key Responsibilities

Review and assess existing process documentation

Engage with stakeholders to validate, clarify, and refine processes

Recreate and standardise documentation within Promapp

Ensure alignment with ISO9001 and quality management standards

Define high-level requirements and clearly articulate problem statements

Support business users in maintaining and updating documentation post-migration

Provide practical guidance on process governance and best practice
About You

Proven experience in process documentation and technical writing

Excellent stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills

Solid BA fundamentals: elicitation, documentation, stakeholder engagement

Ability to work autonomously and manage workload at full utilisation

Experience with Promapp and familiarity with quality frameworks (e.g., ISO9001) highly desirable
