Cyber Security Architect – Digital Operations Programme
12-month contract | Wellington | Immediate start
We’re seeking an experienced Cyber Security Architect to support a large, high-priority Digital Operations maintenance programme within a complex enterprise environment. This role focuses on providing end-to-end security assurance across critical digital services, spanning enterprise platforms, networks, end-user computing, and cloud infrastructure.
This is an urgent engagement with a strong likelihood of extension, offering full utilisation and meaningful impact across essential digital operations.
About the role
You’ll be responsible for delivering cyber security assurance activities from early design through to go-live and into ongoing operational assurance. Working closely with business and technical stakeholders, you’ll assess risk, define security requirements, validate controls, and clearly articulate residual risk to senior decision-makers.
Key responsibilities

Deliver cyber security assurance for complex systems across their full lifecycle

Lead Security Risk Assessments through structured stakeholder workshops

Define non-functional security requirements and required controls

Review solution designs and architecture for security alignment

Develop and execute control validation plans and audits

Identify, document, and track remediation activities

Produce concise Certification and Accreditation (C&A) artefacts and memos for senior stakeholders

Provide pragmatic, risk-based security advice to business and risk owners
Skills & experience
You’ll bring strong technical depth alongside the ability to operate confidently in a large, multi-stakeholder environment. Key capabilities include:

Proven experience providing cyber security assurance for large, complex ICT systems

Strong understanding of complex, integrated environments

Demonstrated experience in:

Security risk assessments

Design and architecture reviews

Control validation planning and auditing

Certification and Accreditation artefacts

Broad and in-depth knowledge of ICT security technologies and controls

Experience specifying and evaluating security solutions

Practical ability to make sense of complexity and communicate risk clearly

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Strong facilitation, relationship-building, and stakeholder engagement capability

Confidence working across all organisational levels, including senior leadership

Experience providing security assurance across:

Microsoft platforms (e.g. Azure, Power Platform)

Cloud and on-premise data platforms such as Snowflake, Informatica, and Power BI
