Shape the Future of a Thriving District

Our client, based on the south side of Waikato, is dedicated to building a thriving community and a robust economy that outpaces the rest of New Zealand. They’re proud of their vision—and now, they’re seeking a skilled and inspiring Manager to help drive it forward.

This pivotal position sits at the heart of Council leadership, ensuring the Mayor, Chief Executive, and Executive Team are empowered to deliver exceptional outcomes for their people, economy, and future.

The Opportunity

In this position you’ll lead a talented team dedicated to supporting the organisation’s most senior leaders. You’ll oversee executive administration, governance processes, and strategic coordination across the business — helping ensure that Council’s highest priorities are delivered efficiently, collaboratively, and with integrity.

You’ll be the connective force that ensures clarity, cohesion, and excellence at every level of leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strong leadership and management to the Mayoral and Chief Executive team
  • Build a high-trust, high-performance culture within the office
  • Deliver proactive, professional executive support services that embody discretion, responsiveness, and excellence
  • Drive governance and decision-making processes that uphold democratic accountability
  • Support effective relationships between the Mayor, Chief Executive, Elected Members, and external stakeholders
  • Ensure strategic alignment so that organisational priorities are clearly understood and achieved

About You

You are a strategic thinker and influential leader who thrives in complex, fast-moving environments. Ideally with an understanding of local government operations and governance, you provide wise counsel, sound judgment, and calm leadership under pressure.

You’ll bring:

  • Proven success in building strong and effective strategic relationships
  • Extensive experience in executive or governance support leadership
  • Political awareness, emotional intelligence, and a collaborative mindset
  • Exceptional communication and problem-solving ability
  • A commitment to integrity, professionalism, and public service

Be part of a team that’s making a tangible difference — where your leadership truly matters.
