We are looking for a Senior Financial Accountant to support the Team Leader Financial Accounting by providing sound external reporting services and to ensure that all financial compliance obligations are met. This is a 7-month fixed term role based in Wellington CBD.

Key Responsibilities:

• Financial Accounting 
• Month end procedures
• Maintenance of the internal control environment, including review of processes to ensure conformity to legislative requirements.
• Completion of key Balance sheet reconciliations according to deadlines.
• Financial Reporting
• Completion of timely and accurate monthly and quarterly reporting.

What you will bring:

• Someone with local government annual reporting and complicated consolidation experience is a must.
• Someone who has 3-5 years of experience in financial reporting
• CA qualified or equivalent
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex accounting guidance and apply it to
  practical situations.
• Ability to use Microsoft Excel to an advanced level.
• Demonstrated ability and desire to improve processes and procedures.
• Experience in a council environment (desirable)
