Our client is a leading NZ based distribution and service company specialising in critical power infrastructure. They provide UPS solutions for mission critial applications accross NZ. 

They are seeking an experienced and technically minded Technical Sales Engineer to support the growth of their AC UPS Systems business throughout New Zealand.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys combining technical expertise with customer-focused sales. You'll work closely with consultants, contractors, and end users to develop tailored UPS solutions for a wide range of critical applications.

About the Role

As our Technical Sales Engineer, you will be responsible for providing technical sales support and application engineering for AC UPS systems across New Zealand. You will interpret customer requirements, develop system solutions, prepare quotations and proposals, and build strong relationships with clients and industry partners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Promote and support the sale of AC UPS systems throughout New Zealand.
  • Review project specifications and tender documentation to develop compliant, fit-for-purpose system designs.
  • Meet with consultants, contractors, and end users to understand project requirements and recommend suitable technical solutions.
  • Prepare detailed quotations, technical proposals, and tender submissions.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers and key industry stakeholders.
  • Identify new business opportunities and contribute to the continued growth of the New Zealand market.

The head office is based in Albany, with 50% of your time based in office, the other 50% on the road, with some two day trips outside of Auckland from time to time. 

About You

You are a technically capable professional with a strong commercial focus and excellent communication skills. You enjoy working collaboratively to solve complex customer challenges and can confidently present technical solutions to a variety of audiences.

Ideally, you will have:

  • Experience in technical sales within UPS systems, power systems, industrial electrical, or critical infrastructure industries or a qualified Electrician with UPS experience who wants to get off the tools and transition into sales.
  • The ability to interpret project specifications and tender documents and convert them into practical system designs.
  • A proactive, self-motivated approach with strong commercial awareness.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage multiple stakeholders.
  • Sound computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
  • Full NZ drivers license. 
  • NZ citizenship or NZ residency, due to this being a permanent role.
