Our client is a purpose-led Kaupapa Māori health and social services organisation. They're seeking an experienced and values-driven Operations Manager to provide operational leadership across a network of primary health care clinics in South Auckland.

The role will be full time, Monday to Friday, based in Mangere.

This is an opportunity to join an organisation committed to improving health, wellbeing and social outcomes for wāhine, tamariki and whānau. You will play a key role in ensuring their primary healthcare services are efficient, sustainable, culturally responsive and centred around a positive experience for the communities they serve.

Working closely with clinical leadership and a range of internal and external partners, you will lead the non-clinical operations of their clinics, ensuring teams are well supported and services operate safely, effectively and consistently.

About the Role

Reporting to the Primary Health Care Executive Leader, you will have responsibility for the day-to-day operational management of Primary Health Care services.

Your leadership will span people and workforce coordination, clinic administration, financial administration, facilities, assets and fleet, health and safety, compliance, quality and continuous improvement.

You will be responsible for:

  • Leading the effective day-to-day non-clinical operations of Primary Health Care clinics.
  • Developing and improving systems, processes and workflows to enhance efficiency and the whānau experience.
  • Monitoring operational performance and identifying opportunities to improve access, patient flow, responsiveness and service quality.
  • Leading, coaching and developing clinic administration teams and supporting Senior Administrators to achieve strong performance.
  • Supporting workforce planning, onboarding, offboarding, resource allocation and employment-related operational processes.
  • Overseeing clinic financial administration, including claims, invoicing, reconciliation, debtors and budget monitoring.
  • Working collaboratively with facilities, fleet and procurement functions to ensure clinics are safe, well maintained and fit for purpose.
  • Supporting accreditation, compliance, audit, quality assurance and health and safety requirements.
  • Using operational data, feedback and reporting to inform decision-making and continuous improvement.
  • Building strong relationships with clinical leaders, corporate teams, community providers and other external stakeholders.
  • Ensuring services remain culturally safe, accessible, equitable and mana-enhancing for whānau.

You will help foster a workplace culture grounded in:

  • Kotahitanga – working together towards shared outcomes.
  • Manaakitanga – honouring, empowering and respecting whānau and kaimahi.
  • Whanaungatanga – building strong, authentic and meaningful relationships.

About You

You are an accomplished operational leader who combines commercial and organisational capability with genuine people leadership and a strong commitment to community outcomes.

You will bring:

  • A relevant qualification in business, management, health administration or a related discipline.
  • At least 5 years' experience in operational management.
  • Proven experience leading multidisciplinary teams and developing people.
  • Experience within healthcare, primary care, community health or social services.

  • Demonstrated financial management, budgeting and reporting capability.
  • Experience leading continuous improvement and service optimisation initiatives.
  • Knowledge of health and safety legislation, compliance and risk management.
  • Excellent planning, organisation, prioritisation and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building capability.
  • High competency with operational systems, data and reporting tools.
  • An understanding of culturally responsive practice and experience working with people from diverse communities.
  • Strong understanding of Te Ao Māori and the ability to work within tikanga Māori frameworks.
  • A full New Zealand Driver Licence.
  • Eligibility to work permanently in New Zealand with either permanent residency or NZ citizenship.
  • A clean criminal record.

Most importantly, you will be an authentic, approachable and values-led leader who can build trust, bring people together and translate organisational strategy into practical operational outcomes.
