My client is the fastest growing non-bank deposit taker in NZ, growing around 35-40% per annum. They're an NZX- listed financial services company.
We're looking for a Legal Counsel to join this small, but mighty team as they continue to grow. The team is tight knit and there is a very competitive salary on offer for the right person. This isn’t a role to be missed.
The successful person will have experience and knowledge in the risk and compliance sectors and must understand the processes and procedures required by a public company, trustee, reserve bank, and standard risk management policies and obligations. You will provide expert legal advice to the wider group.
This role will see you working Monday to Friday full time from their office in lower Auckland CBD.
Duties include:
- To assess new obligations and requirements that arise from new legislation or regulations that relate to the major legislation that the group operates under.
- Manage the groups insurance policies.
- The role requires working closely with the MD and CFO. Provide input with the annual report, the annual shareholder meeting and board meetings.
- Manage board papers and distribute to board members. Maintain companies’ office records.
- Setup and control of staff records.
- Completion of training and required continuing education. Maintenance of health and safety records.
- Review and management of staff needs.
- Take over management of the AML system and to ensure ongoing issues, recording, reporting and training are completed.
- Become familiar with the NZX rules and the compliance obligations.
- Review and update risk management plan.
About you:
- Financial services industry experience within legal and compliance.
- Previous experience working for an NZX/ASX listed company is desirable.
- Proven ability to provide high quality legal advice.
- Current NZ practicing certificate is desirable.
- You must have the right to work in New Zealand to apply for this role.
