Network Implementation Engineer – Wireless Rollout

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Network Implementation Engineer to support the rollout of upgraded wireless and network infrastructure across multiple manufacturing, warehouse and operational locations throughout New Zealand.
This is a hands-on, site-focused position responsible for ensuring approved network designs are successfully implemented, commissioned, tested and handed over into operation.
Working closely with Wireless Network Architects, Network Engineers, site teams and third-party installation providers, you will play a key role in delivering each site deployment successfully.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and support wireless/network deployments at individual sites.
- Review implementation plans and technical designs prior to deployment.
- Validate site readiness, including cabling, switching, network ports, PoE and access point locations.
- Coordinate access point installation and replacement activities.
- Work with cabling contractors, vendors and local site teams.
- Assist with Cisco wireless and network equipment installation and commissioning.
- Support site cutovers and migration from existing wireless infrastructure.
- Perform connectivity and post-installation testing.
- Validate coverage and connectivity across user devices, scanners and other operational equipment.
- Identify and troubleshoot deployment issues, escalating complex network or RF issues to the Senior Network Engineer.
- Coordinate remediation activities where installations do not meet the approved design.
- Ensure installations comply with technical standards and site requirements.
- Maintain implementation documentation, asset information, site records and as-built documentation.
- Support handover into BAU/network operations following successful implementation.
Skills & Experience
- Experience implementing enterprise network and wireless infrastructure.
- Good Cisco networking experience, ideally including Cisco wireless technologies.
- Experience installing, commissioning or supporting enterprise wireless access points.
- Good understanding of switching, VLANs, IP networking, DHCP and PoE.
- Experience supporting network migrations and infrastructure cutovers.
- Strong technical troubleshooting capability.
- Experience working with cabling contractors and infrastructure vendors.
- Experience within manufacturing, warehousing, logistics, industrial or distributed site environments would be highly advantageous.
- Experience performing wireless validation or site surveys would be beneficial.
- Strong documentation and communication skills.
- Comfortable travelling to sites and working within operational environments.
