About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Wireless Network Engineer to support a major multi-site wireless infrastructure modernisation programme across New Zealand.
Working within a predominantly Cisco networking environment, you will be responsible for translating wireless architecture and designs into working technical solutions, including configuration, integration, testing, troubleshooting and optimisation.
The environment includes manufacturing facilities, warehouses and operational sites, requiring strong enterprise wireless capability and an understanding of the challenges associated with complex RF environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Configure, deploy and support Cisco enterprise wireless infrastructure.
- Implement wireless designs developed by the Network Architect.
- Configure and support wireless controllers, access points and associated network infrastructure.
- Configure switching, VLANs, routing, QoS and supporting network services.
- Support authentication, 802.1X, NAC and network security requirements.
- Undertake RF troubleshooting, optimisation and performance analysis.
- Assist with wireless surveys, validation and post-deployment testing.
- Diagnose coverage, interference, roaming, connectivity and performance issues.
- Support site cutovers and migrations from legacy wireless infrastructure.
- Troubleshoot connectivity across corporate, mobile, operational and IoT devices.
- Work closely with site-based Implementation Engineers and third-party installation teams.
- Provide remote technical support during deployments across multiple locations.
- Maintain configurations, technical documentation and implementation records.
- Escalate architecture or design issues to the Wireless Network Architect where required.
Skills & Experience
- Strong hands-on Cisco wireless networking experience.
- Strong knowledge of Cisco Catalyst wireless technologies and controllers.
- Experience deploying and supporting enterprise WLAN environments.
- Strong understanding of Wi-Fi 6/6E and modern wireless standards.
- Strong RF troubleshooting and wireless optimisation skills.
- Experience with Cisco switching and enterprise LAN infrastructure.
- Strong understanding of VLANs, routing, DHCP, DNS, QoS and network security.
- Experience with Cisco ISE, 802.1X or similar network access control technologies.
- Experience with Ekahau or similar wireless survey and analysis tools would be advantageous.
- Experience within manufacturing, warehouse, logistics, industrial or other complex operational environments would be highly regarded.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capability.
