We are seeking experienced Aluminium Extrusion Technicians to join our client’s operations in the Taranaki Region. This role involves setting up, operating, and optimising extrusion and cutting processes to produce high-quality aluminium profiles in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

You will be responsible for running extrusion presses, ensuring correct die setup, monitoring product quality, and maintaining production efficiency. The role plays a key part in minimising downtime, driving continuous improvement, and ensuring products meet precise engineering standards.  Success in this role requires strong technical judgement and a commitment to health and safety, quality, and production targets.

 

Specific Responsibilities include but are not limited to for the role:

· Set up, configure, and calibrate extrusion equipment, cutting equipment, and associated machinery in accordance with detailed production specifications, technical drawings, and engineering requirements

· Interpret extrusion tickets, technical drawings, and production documentation to determine appropriate processing methods, tolerances, and machine configurations

· Oversee and control extrusion and cutting processes to ensure aluminium profiles are produced within specified tolerances, quality standards, and production targets

· Adjust and optimise process parameters including temperature, pressure, machine speed to achieve consistent product quality and efficient production performance and make independent technical decisions regarding process adjustments

· Apply technical judgement to analyse process variations and implement appropriate adjustments to maintain output accuracy and material integrity

· Perform precision measurements using callipers and specialised measuring instruments to verify dimensional accuracy and compliance with engineering tolerances

· Inspect finished and in-process materials to identify defects such as distortion, surface inconsistencies, and dimensional deviations

· Determine and implement corrective actions, including process adjustments, re-cutting, or material rejection, to ensure compliance with production specifications

· Continuously monitor and refine extrusion and cutting processes to improve workflow efficiency, reduce material waste, and optimise production output

· Coordinate material flow across extrusion, cutting, and inspection stages to ensure  smooth and continuous production operations

· Conduct routine equipment inspections

· Diagnose and resolve process and equipment-related issues

· Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety standards and maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment

 Skills and Attributes for the role:

· Candidates must have at least a minimum of 2 years’ relevant experience

· Strong attention to detail and consistent finish standards

· Good communication skills.

· Willingness to learn new techniques where required

· Good problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve process and equipment-related issues.

· Good knowledge of workplace health and safety (WHS) standards, with a strong commitment to maintaining a safe and compliant working environment.

· Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced production environment.

· Basic computer literacy for recording production data and monitoring process performance (preferred but not essential).

· Hold a NZ Driver’s license or International Driver’s license

What to Expect if You’re Successful:

Your hourly rate will be $25 -$32

You will be offered permanent full-time employment with a minimum of 30 hours per week paid

Training available as appropriate to assist you to improve your skills

You will be required to follow all advised health and safety regulations.
