Position: Drainlayer
Location: Wellington
Employment Type: Full-time / Temp to Perm
About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Drainlayer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing drainage systems across residential and commercial sites. You must have strong technical knowledge, practical experience, and the ability to work safely and efficiently on-site.
Key Responsibilities

Install, repair, and maintain stormwater and wastewater drainage systems

Read and interpret site plans, drawings, and specifications

Operate machinery and tools required for drainage work

Perform excavation and backfilling to required standards

Inspect drainage systems to identify issues or blockages

Ensure all work complies with local council and industry regulations
-
Work safely and follow all health & safety procedures on site

Collaborate with supervisors, contractors, and team members
-
Complete job records and documentation when required
Skills & Experience
-
Proven experience as a Drainlayer (2+ years preferred)
-
NZ Registered or Certifying Drainlayer (preferred but not always required)
-
Strong knowledge of drainage systems, materials, and installation methods

Ability to read site plans and follow technical instructions

Experience operating excavation equipment is an advantage

Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail

Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or in a team

Physically fit for manual labour and outdoor work
Requirements

Valid NZ work rights (Citizen, Resident, or Open Work Visa)

Full NZ Driver’s Licence (Class 1 essential; Class 2 an advantage)

Site Safe and other relevant tickets are a bonus

Must pass pre-employment checks (as required)
