We are currently seeking an experienced and compassionate Medical Receptionist to join a busy mental health service in a temporary full-time role. This position is Monday to Friday, with an immediate start and an expected duration of 3–6 months.
This role would suit someone who is professional, empathetic, and confident supporting patients within a mental health environment. Strong communication skills and a calm, caring approach are essential.
About the Role
As the first point of contact for patients and visitors, you will play a key role in creating a welcoming and supportive clinic environment while ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of reception and administration functions.
Key Responsibilities
- Meeting and greeting patients attending clinic appointments
- Booking follow-up appointments and managing schedules
- Handling incoming phone calls and patient enquiries
- Identifying and escalating urgent calls to the appropriate clinical staff
- Providing administrative support to the wider team
- Maintaining accurate patient records and confidentiality
- Assisting with general reception and office duties
About You
- Previous medical reception or healthcare administration experience preferred
- Comfortable working within the mental health sector
- Empathetic, patient-focused, and professional communication style
- Strong organisational and multitasking skills
- Ability to remain calm and professional in sensitive situations
- High level of confidentiality and attention to detail
- Available to start ASAP and commit to a temporary assignment
