Are you an experienced Clinical Engineering Technician with EWRB certification looking for an exciting opportunity in the healthcare sector? Join a large health-based organisation in Dunedin and play a key role in the setup and launch of a brand-new department.
This is a hands-on project role where you’ll help coordinate and prepare critical medical equipment for operational use. The role will run from June through October 2026, with the possibility of a permanent opportunity for the right person.
We are also open to considering Junior Clinical Engineering Technicians who are eager to grow their experience within a supportive healthcare environment – Recent Graduates.
About the Role
Working as part of a collaborative team, your responsibilities will include:
- Assisting with the setup of a new healthcare department
- Unboxing and checking incoming medical equipment against purchase orders
- Logging and tracking equipment within internal systems
- Performing electrical safety testing and equipment checks
- Assisting with installation and commissioning of medical equipment
- Carrying out routine inspections, calibration, repairs, and preventative maintenance
- Maintaining accurate service and compliance records
- Supporting risk management and quality assurance processes
- Ensuring all work complies with relevant engineering and healthcare standards
This role will initially involve standard business hours:
Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 4:30pm.
As the department opening approaches, additional overtime and weekend work will be required to support project delivery.
Skills & Experience
To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:
- NZQA Level 7 Engineering Qualification (or equivalent)
- Biomedical or Clinical Engineering experience
- EWRB Registration / EST Licence
- Practical experience in medical equipment servicing or maintenance
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and organisational abilities
- The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced project environment
