Step Into a Career-Defining QA Role in Geothermal Energy
Are you a hands-on mechanical tradesperson or technician ready to move off the tools and into a quality-focused role?
This is your opportunity to join one of New Zealand’s largest geothermal power developments near Taupō, supporting the construction and commissioning of a nationally significant renewable energy project.
The Opportunity
As part of the site-based project team, you’ll play a key role in managing and supporting the mechanical quality assurance (QA) process across all stages of construction.
This role blends inspection, documentation, coordination, and client interaction — perfect for someone with a mechanical background looking to step into QA or project engineering.
What You’ll Be Doing
-
Review and manage QA documentation — ITPs, ITRs, calibration and installation records, inspection and welding reports
-
Carry out regular site inspections to ensure mechanical works meet drawings, codes, and specifications
-
Support completion walkdowns and punchlist reviews with the client and project team
-
Tagging and system identification during mechanical completion and handover
-
Track, resolve, and help close out NCRs (non-conformance reports) with engineers and contractors
-
Assist with materials receiving, traceability, and record-keeping
-
Prepare and submit QA close-out packages for client and regulatory sign-off
-
Contribute to process improvements, problem-solving, and uphold strong HSE standards
About You
You’ll likely come from a practical mechanical background such as:
-
Mechanical fitting, fabrication, welding, NDT, or inspection
-
Experience in power, industrial, or plant environments — e.g. pumps, pressure vessels, pipework, or heat exchangers
You’ll also bring:
-
Familiarity with QA and inspection documentation (ITPs, ITRs, NCRs, weld reports)
-
Strong attention to detail and an organised, methodical approach
-
Confident computer skills (Word, Excel) and ability to pick up QA software
-
Great communication and teamwork skills
-
A valid NZ driver’s licence and a strong safety mindset
Recent mechanical diploma/degree graduates with site experience are also encouraged to apply.
What This Role Can Offer You:
-
Step away from the tools into a rewarding QA-focused career
-
Build experience on major renewable and industrial projects
-
Structured mentoring and long-term development opportunities
-
Competitive salary, job security, and clear progression
If you’re ready to take the next step in your mechanical career and be part of a high-impact project, this is the perfect opportunity to make your move.
