Role Overview
A large public sector organisation is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to support delivery within the INZ Core programme. INZ Core is responsible for implementing legislative changes, system enhancements, and defect remediation across several legacy platforms, including AMS, IGMS, and Plone.
Due to a significant increase in the volume and complexity of upcoming legislative change, additional project management capacity is required to ensure continued, timely delivery. The role will work alongside an existing Project Manager and be focused on managing a high volume of concurrent, small-scale initiatives.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Key Responsibilities
-
Manage business-as-usual delivery of system changes driven by legislative requirements and critical defect fixes.
-
Plan, estimate, schedule, and coordinate multiple small work items concurrently.
-
Operate effectively in a reactive environment where priorities and requirements may change at short notice.
-
Lead and coordinate delivery across multidisciplinary teams, including Business Analysts, testers, and release management.
-
Manage and coordinate external vendors and delivery partners.
-
Engage closely with business and policy stakeholders to ensure alignment and clarity of requirements.
-
Monitor and support system releases, with flexibility to assist outside standard working hours when required.
-
Manage project interdependencies and risks to ensure smooth delivery across parallel initiatives.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Skills and Experience
-
Demonstrated experience delivering BAU-focused projects and managing multiple small-scale initiatives simultaneously.
-
Strong vendor and contract management capability, including working with multiple external suppliers.
-
Excellent stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills, particularly with senior or experienced business stakeholders.
-
Highly detail-oriented with strong organisational, coordination, and time management skills.
-
Proven ability to operate effectively in fast-paced, reactive environments with shifting priorities.
-
Collaborative and adaptable team player, comfortable working across multidisciplinary delivery teams.
-
Strong leadership skills with the ability to coordinate cross-functional resources.
-
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
-
Minimum of 5+ years’ experience in project management, with a proven track record delivering complex initiatives.
-
Experience working with recognised project management methodologies.
-
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt plans in response to changing timelines or requirements.
-
Ability to plan carefully, manage pressure, and maintain a proactive, positive approach to delivery.

If you’re highly organised, thrive in fast-paced delivery environments, and want to make a tangible impact, we’d love to hear from you!
