We’re looking for a hands-on Plant Operator - Maintenance Officer, to support the day-to-day operation of an essential agricultural grain drying, storage and milling site. This is a practical role suited to someone who enjoys working with machinery, troubleshooting issues on the go and being part of a small, tight-knit site team.

During the harvest and drying season (April to June), hours will increase significantly, including longer shifts, weekend work and some night shifts. Outside of the harvest period, the role is Monday to Friday (typically 8am to 5pm) and focuses on maintenance, servicing and site preparation. Occasional travel to the Te Puke site may be required.

What You’ll be Doing

  • Operating and monitoring grain drier, storage and handling equipment
  • Carrying out equipment maintenance to keep downtime to a minimum
  • Assisting with milling operations and grain receivals and dispatch
  • Sampling grain, checking moisture levels and maintaining accurate records
  • Helping with stockfeed and retail grain sales (bagged and bulk)
  • Working safely and following all health, safety and environmental requirements

What We’re Looking For

You will bring a strong work ethic and a practical, can-do attitude with the ability to work independently while also working effectively as part of a small site team. You’ll be reliable, adaptable and willing to step up and put in the extra effort required during busy harvest periods.

Additionally, you will have:

  • A mechanical trade qualification
  • Strong mechanical aptitude – welding and general fabrication skills are an advantage
  • Experience in agricultural or manufacturing environments
  • Forklift experience
  • Knowledge in quality control processes
  • A strong safety focus and willingness to follow procedures
  • Confined space and working at heights tickets (preferred but not essential)
