12-month fixed-term opportunity | Broad finance exposure | Hands-on accounting role
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Assistant Accountant to join our client’s Finance team on a 12-month fixed-term contract.
Reporting to the Group Financial Manager, this is a varied, hands-on role working across the wider business and supporting a range of accounting and financial reporting activities. You’ll work closely with Management Accountants, Plant Accountants, Finance Administrators, Treasury and other teams across the organisation.
As Assistant Accountant, you’ll help ensure accurate and timely financial reporting while maintaining strong financial controls and the integrity of the general ledger.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting month-end processes, general ledger journals and reconciliations
- Preparing and maintaining accurate financial information and group reporting
- Ensuring general ledger reconciliations are completed efficiently and reconciling items are cleared
- Providing analysis of financial results as required
- Supporting the management and control of debtors in line with company credit policies
- Reviewing and signing off payment runs
- Assisting with offshore subsidiary reporting requirements
- Providing cover and support across Treasury and Accounts Payable when required
- Supporting statutory, interim and year-end accounting activities
- Contributing to ad hoc finance projects and management requests
To be successful in this role, you’ll bring a solid grounding in accounting and finance along with the confidence to work across a busy and varied finance function.
Ideally, you will have:
- A Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline
- At least two years’ experience in finance or accounting roles
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills
- Experience with D365 Finance & Operations and Power BI would be advantageous but is not essential
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills
- The ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
- Strong communication skills and the confidence to work with stakeholders across the business
