We’re looking for an experienced Maintenance Fitter with a Fitter Turner trade background to join a well-established New Zealand manufacturing business.

This is a varied, hands-on role for someone who enjoys getting stuck in, if you’re a qualified Fitter Turner who likes variety and enjoys the challenge of a busy manufacturing environment, this could be a great next move.

The opportunity

Working as part of the maintenance team, you’ll play an important role in keeping manufacturing operations running safely, reliably and efficiently.

No two days will look the same. You could be responding to a breakdown, machining a replacement component, completing scheduled maintenance, carrying out fabrication work or helping with a plant improvement or installation project.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Preventative maintenance and servicing of manufacturing plant and machinery
• Mechanical fault finding, breakdown response and repairs
• Turning, milling, fitting and machining components
• Operating manual and CNC machine shop equipment, including lathes and mills
• Reading and interpreting engineering and CAD drawings
• Using precision measuring equipment to achieve the required tolerances and fit
• Fabrication, welding, grinding and modification work
• Supporting plant installations, upgrades and continuous improvement projects

What we’re looking for

Importantly, you’ll need to be a qualified Fitter Turner, with strong practical machining skills alongside your maintenance experience.

You’ll ideally bring:

• A New Zealand Certificate in Mechanical Engineering (Trade) Level 4 or equivalent trade qualification
• Experience maintaining and repairing industrial or manufacturing machinery
• Confidence using lathes, mills, drills, grinders and other machine shop equipment
• Strong mechanical fault-finding and problem-solving ability
• The ability to read engineering drawings and work accurately to tolerances
• Fabrication and welding capability
• A strong commitment to health and safety
• A practical, reliable and self-managing approach
